Former Notasulga Police Chief JW Tapley, 75, of Notasulga, died on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017. His funeral was on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at Salem Macon Baptist Church. Burial followed in Notasulga Memory Gardens.

Mr. Tapley is survived by: his wife of 54 years. Janette Tapley; his children Beth (Joe) Waldrep of Jackson's Gap, Lynn (Rachelle) Tapley of Beauregard, and Matt (Brittany) Tapley of Reeltown; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his sister Laverne Hartley of Dadeville; and his brother Lamar (Francis) Tapley of Dadeville. He was preceded in death by his son Kevin Tapley and his granddaughter Destiny Tapley.

Mr. Tapley served in Law Enforcement for 34 years and was Chief of Police in Notasulga. He also served eight years in the Army National Guard.
