NHS Girls 51

Notasulga girls were defeated by Marion County (Ga.) 58-51 in the opening round of the W.H. Shaw Christmas Tournament in Columbus, Ga. After trailing by 28 points mid-way through the third quarter, the Lady Devils fought back to cut Marion County's lead to six with just under two minutes remaining in the game. Marion County sank some key free throws down the stretch to hold on for the 7-point victory.

Leading the Lady Devils was Morgan Hunter with a career high 25 points. She also contributed six rebounds, four assists, six steals and a block. Helping with the Notasulga effort were the Brown sisters: Tamara and Destiny. Older sister Tamara scored seven points, had five rebounds and three steals while younger sister, Destiny, added 10 points, eight rebounds, two steals and 2 blocks.

NHS Girls 47, Jordan 36

The Notasulga Lady Devils raised their record 5-3 n the season by defeating the Jordan Vocational Tech (Ga.) Red Jackets 47-36 in the second round of the W.H. Shaw Christmas Tournament in Columbus on Thursday, Dec. 21.

Junior guard Morgan Hunter led the Lady Devils with 17 points, eight rebounds, eight steals and three assists. Senior forward Tamara Brown added 13 points with rebounds, three steals and a block. Sophomore guard Walteria Tatum added nine points, along with eight rebounds, four steals, two blocks and an assist. Freshman center Destiny Brown scored seven points with eight rebounds and three assists. Junior guard Kemetria Tyson rounded out the scoring with a point and added four steals.

NHS Girls 45, Kendrick 41

The Notasulga girls finished the first half of their season with a 6-3 record as they defeated Kendrick (Ga.) on Friday, Dec. 22 at G.W. Carver High School in Columbus, Ga. The Lady Devils won 45-41.

The Lady Devils hand two players tally a double-double — Morgan Hunter with 13 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block, and Destiny Brown with 10 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks. Walteria Tatum added 12 points, five rebounds, three steals, three assists and four blocks. Andrea Avery had a solid performance with four points, eight rebounds and an assist.

The Lady Devils will next be in action against the Beauregard Lady Hornets on Thursday, January 4 at home. Tipoff is at 6 p.m.
