The Tuskegee University softball team dropped its final game at the Gulf Coast Invitational, falling 9-1 in six innings to Rollins College. The loss drops the Golden Tigers to 0-5 on the season.

Sierra Smith notched Tuskegee's only hit while Jasmyne Lawrence earned the only RBI on the day driving in Sommer Fitzpatrick.

Abby Summers caused difficulties for TU from the circle, allowing just one hit, and one, unearned run through six innings. The Golden Tigers allowed five players to tally at least one RBI, and six players scoring the team's nine runs.

The game was scoreless through two, but TU allowed RC Tars to break through in the third to hang four runs on the board. Talia Kentoffio, crossed home plate on a Jordan Davis bunt single. Chandler Middlebrook then doubled, tallying two RBI as Davis and Abigail Sexton both scored.

Senior Brianne Lint capped the frame by scoring Middlebrook with an RBI single. The Tars would score in each of the next two frames with Davis and Amanda Guglietta each scoring. Guglietta tallied her first run of 2018 on Kentoffio's first collegiate RBI.

At the end of five Rollins held a 6-1 advantage. Abby Summer retired the side in order in the sixth, and the Tars offense did the rest. Middlebrook, Lint and Whitney Foyer each earned RBI as the Tars putting the game away.

Next weekend the unit competes in the Charger Chillout hosted by the University of Alabama-Huntsville (UAH).
